1 Godhanger, Johnathan Livingston Seagull, Kara the Lonely Falcon, The Book of the Dun Cow and
The Book Of Sorrows are all allegories rather than strictly nature books.
2 One for Sorrow, Two for Joy and The Lost Domain have major, major problems in terms of accuracy
in bird behavior or biology, to the point where anyone knowledgeable about birds would probably not enjoy them.
3 Although it is recommended because it is well written and, IMO, an important work in anthropomorphic literature,
The Book of Sorrows is a very, very gruesome and depressing book. I recommend it with the warning that it absolutely
is not for children, and adults should be warned that reading it is not a pleasant experience, but more like an ordeal to
be endured.
4 While The Birds is a short story and those are normally not covered here, this is a very important work in the genre and is
included for that reason.
